The Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB) conducted its first University-wide Orientation Program for all full-time staff—both existing and newly appointed—on 3rd July 2025 at the FNPH Auditorium, Thimphu.

The program commenced with registration, followed by a Welcome Address from the Offtg. Director/Chief HR Officer, and an inaugural address by the Offtg. President/Registrar, who highlighted the importance of aligning individual roles with the University’s vision and goals.

Program Highlights:

  • HR Division: Presented the University’s vision, mission, mandates, governance structure, HR Master Plan, Conditions of Service 2025, OD Exercise, and the ACC’s Organizational Integrity Plan.
  • Academic Affairs: Covered quality assurance, curriculum review, CPD, centralized exams, and student services.
  • Administrative Division: Outlined the Code of Conduct, Disciplinary Mechanisms, Grievance Procedures, and Asset Declaration Rules.
  • Planning Division: Shared the 13th Five-Year Plan and University KPIs.
  • Finance Division: Presented financial rules and the e-DATs system.
  • ICT Division: Provided updates on the KGUIS and Total Quality Management under Open KGUMSB.

The latter half of the day featured addresses by the Deans from the four faculties—FoTM, FNPH, FoPGM, and FoUGM—introduced their mandates, academic programs, and organizational structures and the Director – MECRIT highlighting research mandates, IRB functions, CPD, and roles of key centers including CSBT.  The participants were also informed about the long term plans of the University and producing graduates in line with His Majesty’s noble Vision of Gelephu Mindfulness City and a developed Bhutan.

The day concluded with closing remarks at 5:00 PM, marking a successful orientation focused on institutional understanding and staff engagement.
