The KGUMSB Faculty Members/Staff Training on Health Research Methodology, Data Management, and Analysis-I for the 1st Batch, which took place from May 19-24, 2025, at the Tsherim Resort, Shomo, Paro, concluded successfully. This training program aimed to strengthen the research and methodology skills of faculty members by focusing on practical applications such as the use of EpiData for data entry and STATA for data analysis. Over the course of the week, participants engaged in a mix of face-to-face lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on exercises. They also developed their own research questions and protocols, created data collection tools using EpiData, and learned to interpret data through descriptive statistical analysis. The course provided a collaborative environment with the aid of mentors, ensuring personalized support and guidance for each participant.

In addition to learning about research methodology, the program focused on the practicalities of data management, including data validation and the creation of efficient data entry instruments. Participants were introduced to STATA as tools for data analysis, equipping them with the skills to perform basic survey data analysis. By the end of the 1st batch, each participant had successfully produced a draft research protocol and completed a series of lab exercises to reinforce their learning. The training incorporated both theoretical knowledge and practical exercises, ensuring that participants not only gained insights into research practices but also applied them in real-world scenarios.

Following the success of the 1st batch, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th batches are currently ongoing, continuing to provide valuable training to faculty members. These sessions have seen active participation, with faculty refining their research protocols, improving their data management skills, and developing proficiency in statistical software for data analysis. Participants continue to benefit from personalized mentorship and the use of previously published research papers as references. As the training progresses, the focus remains on equipping faculty members with the essential skills needed to conduct high-quality research in health and medical fields, ensuring that each participant is well-prepared to contribute effectively to the ongoing research initiatives at KGUMSB. This training was financially supported by by Leishmaniasis project and partly by Nutrition Program, DoPH, MoH.
