A three-member delegation from Walailak University, Thailand — Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University; Dr. Patnarin Supakorn, Assistant Professor and Director of the Center for International Affairs; and Dr. Worawan Panpipat, Associate Professor and Dean of the School of Agricultural Technology and Food Industry — visited the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB) on 27th May 2025.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Rixin Jamtsho, the Officiating President of KGUMSB, and was attended by officials from the Office of the President and the constituent faculties. Discussions during the meeting focused on the potential for faculty and student exchange programs, including credit transfer arrangements, as well as avenues for collaborative research initiatives.
This inaugural meeting marked a significant step towards building strong academic and research partnerships between the two universities and has opened the door to a range of potential future collaborations.
As part of their visit, the delegates also toured the Faculty of Traditional Medicine and its museum. This visit represents an important milestone in fostering international cooperation in medical education and research — both in allopathic and traditional medicine.
