The 3-day training on Service with Care and Compassion Initiatives (SCCI) held in Thimphu from May 28-30 has been successfully concluded. Aimed at rolling out the SCCI at JDWNRH and Thromde Health Centres (THC) in Thimphu, participants were equipped with invaluable insights and knowledge. Resourced by 6 SCCI experts, the training was attended by doctors, nurses, technicians and other paramedics and students of KGUMSB. The training is financially supported by Access Health International (AHI) based in Hydebahd. Two experts are currently with MECRIT, KGUMSB supporting the NCD capacity building.

The Director of Clinical Services, in his closing remarks, emphasized the critical need to implement the learnings from this training to enhance our initiatives in preventing Non-Communicable Diseases and improving NCD services at JDWNRH.

Following the end of technical sessions, coordination meeting was convened wherein representatives from MoH, JDWNRH and NMS attended the meeting chaird by Director, DCS. In discussion for implementation of SCCI at JDWNRH and THC, the following activities were agreed by all the participants and representatives of MoH, JDWNRH and NMS:

Wayforward:
1.⁠ ⁠JDWNRH management will appoint Principle Focal Person to oversee NCD/SCCI activities to work closely with MECRIT and MoH

2.⁠ ⁠JDWNRH management will appoint SCCI/NCD Focal person from each department at JDWNRH.

3.⁠ ⁠MECRIT will conduct
2nd Batch SCCI training for remaining staff of THC and JDWNRH in the 2nd week of June.

4.⁠ ⁠MECRIT and AHI will Sensitize all the staff of JDWNRH on SCCI to ensure maximum coverage in the 3rd week of June.
5.⁠ ⁠NCD screening unit will be established by each department at JDWNRH.

6.⁠ ⁠Hub and Spoke model of referral system to be established to ensure seamless referrals of NCD patients in Thimphu.

7.⁠ ⁠NCD dashboard to be handled and managed by NCD clinic of JDWNRH.

8.⁠ ⁠NCD centre in MECRIT will analyze data from the dashboard and submit a report to MoH.

With implementation of SCCI at JDWNRH, the SCCI team at JDWNRH is expected to significantly contribute towards reduction and prevention of NCDs in the Country.
