KGUMSB Launches Orientation on the New DGNM Curriculum and Pedagogy Training
Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB) has commenced a four-day orientation on the new Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (DGNM) curriculum and pedagogy training from 14–18 July 2025 for faculty members, including adjunct and visiting faculty, at the Apollo Bhutan Institute (ABIN).
The opening ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble President of KGUMSB as the Guest of Honour.
The orientation aims to familiarize faculty members with the revised competency-based DGNM curriculum, its learning outcomes, assessment approaches, and implementation strategies to ensure quality and standardized delivery of nursing education. The pedagogy training focuses on enhancing faculty competencies in learner-centred teaching, active learning, clinical instruction, and effective student assessment.
As part of KGUMSB’s commitment to strengthening nursing and midwifery education, similar orientations on the new BSc. Nursing and Midwifery (BSc. NM) and DGNM curricula, along with pedagogy training, will be conducted in the coming weeks at Arura Academy of Health Sciences (AAHS), Royal Thimphu College (RTC), YT Nursing Academy, and the Faculty of Nursing and Public Health (FNPH) to ensure standardized implementation across all affiliated institutions.
Together, we continue to strengthen the quality of nursing and midwifery education in Bhutan.
