The Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB), in collaboration with the Thai Lifestyle Medicine and Wellbeing Association (TLWA), will host the 1st Bhutan-Thai International Conference on Lifestyle Medicine and Mindfulness from 5th–6th June 2026 at the Auditorium Hall, Faculty of Nursing and Public Health, Thimphu.
The conference will be graced by Her Majesty The Queen Mother, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck whose presence will add profound significance to this historic event. Her Majesty’s gracious support reflects Bhutan’s unwavering commitment to the promotion of health, well-being, mindfulness, and compassionate care for humanity.
This conference is primarily aimed at strengthening regional and international collaboration in advancing health promotion, disease prevention, and compassionate, patient-centered models of care through evidence-based lifestyle interventions and mindful living in building healthier, more resilient societies. The conference will also highlight the urgent need to integrate physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being in addressing the growing burden of non-communicable diseases and contemporary health challenges.
Bhutan, internationally recognized for its development philosophy of Gross National Happiness, provides a uniquely meaningful setting for this important gathering. The country’s enduring values of mindfulness, compassion, harmony with nature, and holistic well-being are deeply woven into the social fabric and national identity of Bhutan. Hosting the conference symbolizes a shared global aspiration to promote healthier lifestyles grounded in inner awareness and human connection.
