A six-member delegation from Singapore, led by Mr. Anthony Tan, Chief Executive Officer of MOH Holdings Pte Ltd (MOHH), visited the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB). The delegation comprised Dr. Liem Yew Kan, Executive Director, Healthcare Manpower Division, MOHH; Mr. James Chen, Assistant Director, Healthcare Manpower Division; Adjunct Associate Professor Png Gek Kheng, Chief Nurse, Changi General Hospital; Ms. Song Xiao, Deputy Director, School of Health Sciences, Ngee Ann Polytechnic; and Mr. Christopher Lim Pen Hock, Creative Community Director, Heritage Socap.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Sonam Dorji, Officiating President of KGUMSB, and attended by the Deans and senior officials from the Office of the President and constituent faculties. The discussion focused on potential areas of collaboration, including:

  • Faculty and student exchange programs
  • Elective placements for Nursing and MBBS students
  • Short-term clinical attachments
  • Expertise sharing on Palliative and Elderly/Home Care
  • Joint research initiatives and grant opportunities
  • Pathways for Bhutanese healthcare professionals in Singapore to upgrade qualifications and re-engage within Bhutan post-contract

This preliminary meeting marks a significant step toward fostering academic and research partnerships between the two countries.

As part of the visit, the delegation also toured key facilities, including the Centre for Simulation-Based Training (CSBT), the Nursing and Midwifery Laboratories, and the Central Library at the Faculty of Nursing and Public Health. The visit represents a key milestone in strengthening international collaboration in medical education and healthcare.
