With profound gratitude and deep admiration, the KGUMSB fraternity bade a heartfelt farewell to Dr. Kinzang P. Tshering, the founding President of the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan.

His journey with the University began on 26th October 2012, when he was appointed as the Interim President by the Royal Government of Bhutan. With unwavering dedication, he laid the institution’s foundation, shaping its vision and mission. On 10th November 2014, he was formally appointed as the first President, and under his leadership, KGUMSB became a cornerstone of medical education in Bhutan. His tenure was further extended for a second term, continuing until 31st December 2024—a testament to his invaluable contributions.

For over a decade, Dr. Kinzang P. Tshering has been the guiding force behind KGUMSB’s commitment to producing competent health professionals and advancing medical education to strengthen Bhutan’s healthcare system. As we celebrate his remarkable leadership, we reflect on the collective achievements of the University under his stewardship.

The farewell event was graced by the Hon’ble Health Minister. Ministry of Health and attended by faculty members from KGUMSB’s constituent faculties and affiliated institutions, esteemed stakeholders, officials from the Office of the President, students, and alumni—all gathered to honor a leader who has shaped the University.

Thank you, Dr. Kinzang P. Tshering, for your leadership and years of dedicated service. Your legacy will live on in every student, faculty member, and healthcare professional who walks through the doors of KGUMSB.
