Piloting new online Advanced Module on Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs)

This year we are piloting a new Advanced Module on Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), taking place online from 13 – 26 July 2022. The CIHLMU is collaborating with the Department of Noncommunicable Diseases at Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) to deliver this new Advanced Module on the ‘Burden of NCDs’. The course is open to all health professionals who have at least completed a Bachelor’s degree in health sciences.

Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) kill 41 million people each year (71% of global deaths), including more than 15 million premature deaths. Low- and middle-income countries already bear 85% of the burden of these premature deaths (WHO 2021). Therefore, understanding the risk factors and the diseases will not only save lives but also provide a huge boost for the economic development of countries. Understand the magnitude and the globalization of major NCDs in developing and developed countries, know the risk factors and learn preventive strategies. This training will enhance the knowledge of health professionals, which will then help to combat against this death toll.
