28th Academic Board Meeting of KGUMSB

The 28th Academic Board (AB) Meeting of the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB) was held on May 20, 2026, at the Conference Hall, Faculty of Traditional Medicine, KGUMSB, chaired by the President of the University, Dr. Pem Namgyal. The meeting was attended by members representing the university management, teaching hospitals, and student representatives. Convened biannually in accordance with the University Act, the Academic Board is the highest decision-making body for academic matters.

The board discussed and made key decisions on enhancing the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning, approval of curriculum, and strengthening mechanisms for quality assurance and improvement. It reaffirmed its commitment to setting academic standards aligned with international benchmarks.

The Academic Board reaffirmed KGUMSB’s role in strengthening Bhutan’s healthcare system by ensuring the quality and relevance of medical and health sciences education in the country. Through its oversight of academic standards, curriculum development, quality assurance, and continuous improvement in teaching and learning, the Board ensures that the university produces competent healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, traditional medicine practitioners, public health professionals, and allied health personnel. The Board also supports initiatives that promote research, professional development, and collaboration with teaching hospitals and healthcare institutions to enhance healthcare services and public health outcomes in Bhutan.
