The 5th Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) Meeting for the KGUMSB and JICA Technical Cooperation Project (TCP), β€œProject for Strengthening the Quality of Medical Education,” was successfully held today, 5th December 2025, at the Nor Banquet Hall, Norkhil Boutique Hotel & Spa.

This meeting marks a significant milestone as the project enters its final phase under the five-year cooperation framework (August 3, 2020 – August 2, 2025). During the session, members reviewed the major achievements of the project, including capacity building of faculty, enhancement of innovation and digitalization in medical education, and development of structured and sustainable education systems within KGUMSB.

A comprehensive presentation on project progress was delivered, followed by a video showcasing key accomplishments supported by the TCP. The members also discussed the proposed extension of the project and outlined activities to be implemented during the extended period.The meeting also discussed the sustainability of the achievements made by the project including establishing and institutionalising Health Professionals education for the faculties.

The meeting was attended by representatives and officials from the JICA Bhutan Office, JICA Headquarters, National Medical Services, Ministry of Finance, and the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan. 

KGUMSB expresses its deep appreciation to JICA for its continued partnership and support in strengthening medical education and health human resource development in Bhutan.
