APPOINTMENT AND PROMOTION CEREMONY – JULY 2025

30th June 2025: In a simple ceremony, the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB) appointed the new recruits and also awarded broad banded promotion orders to the Faculty Members/Staff from the Constituent Faculties and Offices, academic promotion orders to the Core Faculty Members from the Teaching Hospital for their dedicated service and loyalty to the Tsa Wa Sum. 

The Officiating President of the University handed over the Appointment Orders and Promotion Orders along with Tashi Khaddar to the recipients and new appointees.

Following were appointed as detailed below: 

Faculty of Undergraduate Medicine 

  1. Dr. Thinley Zam – Associate Lecturer 

Faculty of Nursing and Public Health 

  1. Ms. Chhimi Wangmo – Associate Lecturer 

Faculty of Traditional Medicine 

  1. Dr. Thubten Palzang – Senior Lecturer 
  2. Drungtsho Dorji Gyeltshen – Senior Lecturer 
  3. Drungtsho Ngawang Namgay – Senior Lecturer 

Following were the officials who were promoted to next higher level:

  1. Mr. Cheku Wangchuk, Promoted to Senior Administrative Assistant III

Faculty of Nursing and Public Health 

  1. Ms. Karma Yangdon, Promoted to Senior Administrative Assistant II
  2. Mr. Chhimi Rinzin, Promoted as Junior Librarian V

Faculty of Post Graduate Medicine 

  1. Ms. Lachimi Gurung, Promoted to Laboratory Technician III
  2. Ms. Deki Peldon, Sweeper

Academic Promotion – Core Faculty and Conversion from Adjunct to Core Faculty

  1. Dr. Sonam Gyamtsho, Promoted to Professor (Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology)
  2. Dr. Prabhat Pradhan, Promoted to Assistant Professor (Department of Surgery)
  3. Dr. Sontosh Mukhia, Promoted to Assistant Professor (Department of ENT)

Conversion from Adjunct to Core Faculty

  1. Dr. Chimi Eden, Senior Lecturer (Department of Dermatology)
  2. Dr. Bikram Chhetri, Senior Lecturer (Department of Psychiatry)

The Officiating President congratulated the recipients on their promotion to higher grades and  welcomed the new recruits on board reminding them to strive for excellence in our roles and responsibilities to achieve the goals and objectives of the University and the Nation as a whole. 

The ceremony was attended by the Offtg. President, Deans, Deputy Deans, Directors and senior officials from Offices/Faculties.
