MEDICAL EDUCATION CENTRE FOR RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND TRAINING

Rixin Jamtsho is a Medical Laboratory Specialist by Profession with over two decades of exemplary service in Bhutan’s healthcare system especially in laboratory field, quality management, Public Health and Research. He currently serves as the Director of the Medical Education Centre for Research, Innovation and Training (MECRIT) at the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB). He holds an MSc in Medical Technology (Clinical Chemistry) from Mahidol University and has played a pivotal role in strengthening national laboratory quality systems, advancing automation, and elevating healthcare standards and public health programs.

Throughout his career, he has held key leadership positions, including Chief Program Officer and Officiating Director at the Ministry of Health, where he made significant contributions to national policy development, laboratory quality improvement, and the country’s COVID-19 response. An accomplished researcher with international recognition, he has led major initiatives in research, innovation, and global collaboration. He is a recipient of the National Order of Merit (Silver) and is widely respected for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing evidence-based healthcare in Bhutan.
