Established within the Faculty of Nursing and Public Health, the Centre of Excellence for Nutrition (CoEN) is a strategic initiative by KGUMSB in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and UNICEF. Launched in late 2024, the Centre is dedicated to addressing the triple burden of malnutrition through research, education, and technological advancement.

Key Objectives & Outcomes

The CoEN serves as a hub for nutrition excellence, focusing on:

  • Evidence-Based Policy: Generating rigorous research to inform national health programs and programmatic interventions.
  • Professional Development: Enhancing technical expertise and knowledge for health professionals through specialized training.
  • Innovation in Diagnostics: Advancing medical technology for the early detection and reduction of Nutrition Deficiency Diseases (NDDs).
  • International Collaboration: Partnering with global institutions to align Bhutan’s nutrition strategies with international excellence.
By bridging the gap between research and practice, the CoEN aims to significantly improve nutritional outcomes and contribute to the national goal of a Happy Drukyul.
