{"id":2664,"date":"2020-06-08T17:07:14","date_gmt":"2020-06-08T11:07:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kgumsb.edu.bt\/?p=2664"},"modified":"2020-06-08T17:07:14","modified_gmt":"2020-06-08T11:07:14","slug":"cih-lmu-one-health-funds-call-for-proposals-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kgumsb.edu.bt\/index.php\/2020\/06\/08\/cih-lmu-one-health-funds-call-for-proposals-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"CIH LMU One Health Funds \u2013 Call for Proposals 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CIH<sup>LMU<\/sup> Center for International Health and OH-TARGET (One Health Training And Research Global Network) are two of twelve centers of excellence within the exceed initiative, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and coordinated by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).<\/p>\n<p>The vision and overarching aim of the CIH<sup>LMU<\/sup> is to empower health professionals. With this vision, CIH<sup>LMU<\/sup> aspires to meet health-related challenges through capacity building in training and research.\u00a0 With the new OH-TARGET project, our vision has expanded to a more participatory and interdisciplinary approach to improve global health conditions.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>CIH<\/u><sup>LMU<\/sup><u> One Health Funds 2020<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>The CIH<sup>LMU<\/sup> aims to strengthen its partners and alumni and to stimulate their collaboration for One Health related research and activities. Therefore, partners and alumni are invited to apply for the One Health Funds 2020.<br \/>\nThe One Health Funds may be used for the following purposes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Research projects<\/li>\n<li>Clinical projects<\/li>\n<li>Projects related to virtual teaching and training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Projects related to the Covid-19 pandemic are given preference.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>1. Eligibility criteria\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1.1 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Applicants<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>All personnel at CIH<sup>LMU<\/sup> and OH-TARGET partnering institutions and CIH<sup>LMU<\/sup> alumni are eligible.<br \/>\nCIH<sup>LMU<\/sup> and OH-TARGET partnering institutions are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jimma University (JU), Ethiopia<\/li>\n<li>National Institute of Medical Research \u2013 Mbeya Medical Research Center (MMRC), Tanzania<\/li>\n<li>Universidade Cat\u00f3lica de Beira (UCM), Mozambique<\/li>\n<li>University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana<\/li>\n<li>Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB), Bhutan<\/li>\n<li>Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS), Nepal<\/li>\n<li>Universidad del Rosario (UR), Colombia<\/li>\n<li>Universidade Federal do Paran\u00e1 (UFPR), Brazil<\/li>\n<li>Universidad Mayor, Real y Pontificia de San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca (USFX), Bolivia<\/li>\n<li>Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC), Guatemala<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>LMU personnel might be a partner in a project but cannot be the main applicant.<\/p>\n<p>CIH<sup>LMU<\/sup> alumni are graduates holding a CIH<sup>LMU<\/sup> Master or PhD degree (MSc in International Occupational Safety and Health, MSc in International Health, MSc Integrated Clinical and Community Mental Health (JU), MSc in Health Professional Education (JU) and PhD Medical Research \u2013 International Health).<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.2.\u00a0<\/strong> <strong>Maximum number of applications per institution<br \/>\n<\/strong>The number of applications per institution is not limited.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.3.\u00a0 Project duration<br \/>\n<\/strong>Only activities taking place from <strong>1 July 2020 until 31 December 2020<\/strong> will be considered eligible. Therefore, it must be feasible to conduct the project within this time frame.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.4.\u00a0 Minimum and Maximum funding available per project<br \/>\n<\/strong>Any grant requested must fall between the minimum amount of <strong>EUR 20,000,- and the maximum amount of EUR 50,000,-.<br \/>\n<\/strong>Funds must be administered and spent according to the DAAD regulations (see point 6. Funding). Therefore, each application has to be accompanied by a budget plan according to these DAAD regulations.<\/p>\n<p><strong> 1.5. Prime applicant and responsibilities<br \/>\n<\/strong>Within the project application, the prime applicant and the responsibilities in the project must be clearly defined.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.6.<\/strong><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>Language<br \/>\n<\/strong>Only proposals written in English are eligible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>1.7.\u00a0 Priority topics <\/strong><br \/>\nProject proposals should be related to One Health.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Definition of One Health:<\/u><br \/>\n<\/strong>\u201cOne Health is an approach to designing and implementing programmes, policies, legislation and research in which multiple sectors communicate and work together to achieve better public health outcomes.<br \/>\nThe areas of work in which a One Health approach is particularly relevant to include food safety, the control of zoonoses (diseases that can spread between animals and humans (\u2026)) and combatting antibiotic resistance.\u201d (WHO)<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #339966;\"><em><strong>Due to the current need for research and clinical activities during the Covid-19 pandemic, applications for projects related to Covid-19 are given priority.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>2. Reporting<\/h4>\n<p>A final and comprehensive report has to be submitted <strong>before 31 January, 2021<\/strong>. The final report has to be submitted in the template provided by CIH Office to the awarded applicants. The template will be sent at the beginning of the project period.<\/p>\n<h4>4. Structure of proposals and word count<\/h4>\n<p>A maximum word count of <strong>6 pages<\/strong> (approx. 2000 words) per proposal is permitted. Longer proposals will be excluded from evaluation. Selection criteria<br \/>\n<\/strong>Only projects fulfilling the eligibility criteria and the formal requirements are eligible for review. Eligibility will be checked by CIH<sup>LMU<\/sup> Office in Munich.<\/p>\n<p><strong> 5.1. Evaluation process<br \/>\n<\/strong>The <strong>review board<\/strong> consists of faculty members of the partner institutions (including LMU). Each proposal is reviewed and evaluated by two reviewers. Reviewers cannot review their own proposals.<\/p>\n<p><strong> 5.1.1\u00a0 Criteria of scientific and technical quality<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Relevance of the project to COVID-19\/One Health<\/li>\n<li>Feasibility of project within the time frame<\/li>\n<li>Description of suitable tools and methods<\/li>\n<li>Potential to strengthen South-South partnerships<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>5.1.2 Management and budget criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of partner institutions involved<\/li>\n<li>Experience of the team members in the field of the project \/ quality of the consortium\/ Management scheme<\/li>\n<li>Clarity on roles and responsibilities of members and institutions, clear cut management structure<\/li>\n<li>Relationship between input (e.g. funds for a training on problem-based learning \u2013 PBL), expected outcomes (number of people trained in PBL) and output (number of people trained who use PBL in their classroom) of the project<\/li>\n<li>Visibility of CIHLMU \/DAAD\/BMZ and network partners in the proposal \uf0b7 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Compliance with the DAAD funding criteria<br \/>\nThe range of awardable grades for each item is as follows:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table width=\"642\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"113\">5: outstanding<\/td>\n<td width=\"101\">4: excellent<\/td>\n<td width=\"107\">3: very good<\/td>\n<td width=\"107\">2: good<\/td>\n<td width=\"107\">1: average<\/td>\n<td width=\"107\">0: poor<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>An average score will be calculated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.1<\/strong> <strong>Notification to the selected projects<br \/>\n<\/strong>Selected projects will be announced on 30 June 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.2 Funding Agreement \/ Contract<br \/>\n<\/strong>Following the selection of funding projects, the beneficiaries will be requested to sign a Funding Agreement. The Funding Agreement describes the CIH<sup>LMU<\/sup> \/DAAD main terms and requirements of the funding, identifies the contact person, details of the reporting requirements, duties and responsibilities.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>6. Funding\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>According to the DAAD regulations, the following criteria apply:<br \/>\n<strong>6.1 Staff<br \/>\n<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong> 6.1.1 Project specific staff<br \/>\n<\/strong>Project specific staff might be employed via a service agreement with CIH<sup>LMU<\/sup> only. No funds for staff directly employed at the partner institutions are available.<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 6.1.2<\/strong> <strong>Project staff travelling expenditure<br \/>\n<\/strong>Only economy class flights and second-class railway journeys are covered.<br \/>\n<strong>6.1.3 Project staff accommodation<br \/>\n<\/strong>Following the principle of thrift, only expenses with readable receipts with specification of date, price per unit and quantity are covered.<br \/>\n<strong> 6.2 Remuneration for external experts<br \/>\n<\/strong>External experts might be remunerated for their contribution via a service agreement with CIH<sup>LMU<\/sup> only (max. of 250\u20ac\/day).\u00a0 External experts exclude any personnel from the applying institution and any alumni that might be part of the project staff.<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 6.3 Consumables \/ Equipment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For publicity work (flyer, poster, brochures, etc.) funds might be made available if the work includes the logos of CIH<sup>LMU<\/sup>, DAAD, exceed and BMZ<\/li>\n<li>Attendance fees for conferences<\/li>\n<li>Expenditure for translations<\/li>\n<li>Expenditures for software, licenses<\/li>\n<li>Expenditure for scientific publications<\/li>\n<li>Consumables for setting up workshops, seminars and other academic events (teaching\/learning materials, printing and copying costs)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Expenditure for accreditation (e.g. for Master programs)<\/li>\n<li>Visa fees, transfer fees and mandatory vaccination fees<\/li>\n<li>Consumables for projects (lab, field work) with justification why these consumables are necessary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 6.4 Grant recipients (e.g. visiting professors, exchange students, external experts)<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 6.4.1<\/strong> <strong>\u00a0Travel Expenses:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Only economy class flights and second class railway journeys are covered.<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 6.4.2<\/strong> <strong>Accommodation and subsistence:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Following the principle of thrift, only expenses with readable receipts with specification of date, price per unit and quantity are covered.<br \/>\nIf the accommodation and subsistence period is longer than 22 days, the following basic monthly rates apply starting from the 23<sup>rd<\/sup> day:\u00a0 &#8211;
