A four-member delegation from Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU), Munich, Germany visited Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB) from 11th to 17th May 2025 to further strengthen and expand this strategic partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The KGUMSB has been actively collaborating with LMU since 2015\u2014particularly in the area of Academic Teacher Training in Medical Education. This partnership has proven mutually beneficial, supporting faculty development through exchange programs and collaborative training initiatives that have significantly enhanced the quality of medical education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Building on this strong foundation, KGUMSB and LMU are currently engaged in an Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Partnership Project titled \u201cCapacity Building on Medical Education, Interprofessional Education, and International Health.\u201d<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The main purspose of the visit were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n
To review and finalize project activities\u00a0under the SDG Partnership, including:\n
\n
Short-term teacher training programs in Medical and Interprofessional Education<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Medical student and faculty exchange programs<\/li>\n\n\n\n
To visit faculties and hospitals, and engage with academics, students, and healthcare providers to gain deeper insights into the Bhutanese Medical Education System, with a view to identifying opportunities for future collaboration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
To facilitate the exchange of ideas and expertise\u00a0between the two universities in order to enhance and sustain this long-standing partnership.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
The visit is expected to further strengthened ties between the two institutions and laid out clear plans for deepening future collaboration in the following areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Close cooperation within the framework of the\u00a0Center for International Health (CIH)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Continued focus on\u00a0medical education and faculty development<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Expansion of\u00a0academic exchange and mobility opportunities, especially for students<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Reinforcement of shared goals within the\u00a0SDG Partnership Program<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Enhanced collaboration on\u00a0international health programs\u00a0at CIH<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Joint efforts to promote\u00a0impactful, context-sensitive research initiatives<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
