He is the second President of the University.&nbsp;<\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: Roboto; line-height: 2;\">With over three decades of distinguished service in the health sector, Dr. Pem Namgyal brings deep expertise in public health, health systems strengthening, and global health leadership. Of his more than 36 years of professional experience, over 23 years were spent as an international professional with the World Health Organization (WHO), serving at both global and regional levels.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Roboto; line-height: 2;\">During his tenure with WHO, he held several senior leadership positions, including assignments at WHO Headquarters in Geneva and the WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia in New Delhi. Most recently, he served as Director of Programme Management at the Regional Office, where he led the design, coordination, and implementation of public health programmes. His work involved close engagement with Member States, providing strategic guidance and sustained technical support to strengthen health systems, control diseases, and advance the goal of better health for all.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Roboto; line-height: 2;\">Dr. Pem Namgyal is widely respected for his principled leadership, analytical rigor, and ability to lead and inspire large multidisciplinary teams. He is known for his commitment to integrity, fairness, and selfless public service. His professional strengths include strong analytical ability, effective leadership, sound organizational and management skills, and excellence in both written and oral communication. He is also proficient in the use of commonly applied software and digital tools.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Roboto; line-height: 2;\">Dr. Pem Namgyal completed his schooling up to Class X at North Point School, Darjeeling, followed by pre-university education at Sherubtse College, Kanglung. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, from July 1981 to December 1986.
